Welcome to the Carnivore School Online! Here you will find 7 short videos about the most important things you need to know about the large carnivores that lives i Norway. The videos are in english, but will soon have english subtitles!
This is how the Carnivore School Online works.
Carnivore School Online is a new concept that allows pupils, and others, interested in partaking in the Carnivore School without the need of traveling to us, or if you are located outside of the nature guides operation area. In this Online version, you will be guided through the most important things the is to know about our four large carnivores, and also learn why discussions regarding carnivores are so heated in Norway.
In addition to the 7 short videos, you can download an activity sheet. To download this sheet, press here, and print it out to your class or group. The sheet is designed to work as an fact sheet when the pupils have finished the task. This way it can be used whenever they want to freshen up on the subjects.
There are attached links to each of the videos that contains task relevant to the specific topic raised in the videos. The tasks are the same as those in the activity sheet, but they are a helpful alternative for those who will only work with one or a few of the videos.
Teachers will be sent an answer sheet per e-mail by request.
Carnivore School part 1: What are “Carnivores”?
In the first part of the Carnivore School Online, we will learn what carnivores are. Which animals in nature are actually carnivores, and what separetes carnivores from all the other animals?
Carnivore School part 2: The lynx
In the second part of the Carnivore School Online, we will get to know the Lynx. How do they hunt, and what exactly does it eat?
Carnivore School part 3: The wolverine
In the third part of the Carnivore School Online, we will get to know the carnivore that most people know very little about – the Wolverine. What exactly is a wolverine? How common is it to see an wolverine in the wild? What do they eat, where does it live, and how many wolverines live in Norway?
Carnivore School part 4: The wolf
In the fourth part of the Carnivore School Online, we will get to know the carnivore most people read about in the papers. The most infamous carnivore is, of course, the wolf. Do wolves really eat so many sheep? Is it dangerous to enjoy the woods where wolves live? Watch this video and find out!
